SUKKUR: Shaikh Ayaz University hosted a Declamation Contest and Essay Writing Competition to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir and raise awareness among students about the ongoing humanitarian and political challenges faced by the Kashmiri population.
Dr Ishfaque Ali Kalhoro, program organizer, and Dr Ghulam Muhammad Mangnejo, overall coordinator, delivered remarks highlighting the importance of intellectual engagement, critical awareness, and moral responsibility among youth in advocating for justice and human rights.
At the conclusion, prizes were awarded to winners. In the declamation contest, Samreen Mahar (BS Part III, English Language and Literature) won first place, with Jannat (BS Part III, English) in second. The third position was shared by Misbah Dahar (BS Part I, Teacher Education) and Usama Soomro (BD Part II, Teacher Education).
In the Essay Writing Competition, Ayesha (BS Part III, English) secured first place, followed by Tahreem Bijrami (BS Part II, Teacher Education) in second, and Mehwish (BS Part III, English) in third. Prof Dr Mehmood-ul-Hassan, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, praised the intellectual depth of the participants and commended the organizers for arranging a meaningful and academically enriching event.
Attendees included Dr Nadir Hussain Bhayo, Incharge Chairman of the Department of Teacher Education; Dr Zulfiqar Ali Rajpar, Chairman of the Department of Commerce; Dr Muhammad Ajmal, Chairman of the Department of English Language and Literature; Mehbob Ali Golo, Assistant Professor; and Chahat, Lecturer in the English Department, whose presence added academic support and dignity to the occasion.
