SUKKUR: the State Bank of Pakistan Banking Services Corporation (SBP-BSC) Sukkur, in collaboration with United Bank Limited (UBL) and Khairpur College of Agriculture and Management Sciences (KCAMS), organized an Agri Mela, bringing together agricultural experts, financial institutions, and farmers eager to adopt innovative techniques.
Addressing the gathering, SBP-BSC Sukkur Chief Manager Fawad Nadeem highlighted the central bank’s role in facilitating the agriculture sector beyond its traditional mandate. “Our goal is to empower farmers, growers, and agri-entrepreneurs with modern techniques and strong financial backing to enhance their competitiveness globally,” he remarked. He emphasized that financial inclusion and access to credit are essential for transforming Pakistan’s agricultural landscape, making it more resilient and profitable.
KCAMS Principal Dr. Jam Ghulam Murtaza Sahito stressed the importance of using certified seeds to improve yields and ensure food security, particularly in the face of climate change. His concerns were echoed by agricultural scientists, including Dr. Mohammad U Rahman Jamro, who shared best practices for cultivating high-yield date palm orchards in Sindh, a region renowned for its date production.
