LANDI KOTAL: In a significant show of support for the tribal business community, a delegation from the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), led by representatives of the Businessman Forum (Ilyas Bilour Group), visited Landi Kotal. The delegation’s visit, part of the SCCI’s annual election activities, took place at the hujra of Torkham Customs Clearing Agents Association President, Aimal Shinwari.
Key figures in the region’s trading and transport sectors, including former SCCI President Haji Zahid Shinwari, Businessman Forum’s senior leader Ghazanfar Bilour, former presidents Haji Afzal and Muhammad Faizi, and Aimal Shinwari, were in attendance. The event was also attended by Chairman Merajuddin Shinwari, President of the Transport Union Azeemullah Shinwari, senior agents Shahjahan Shinwari, and a large number of local traders.
During the meeting, Zahid Shinwari expressed deep appreciation for the support and participation of the tribal traders. He emphasized the consistent efforts of the Businessman Panel and the Ilyas Bilour Group in advocating for the resolution of issues faced by tribal traders. “We have always prioritized the concerns of the tribal business community and continue to work tirelessly to resolve their problems,” said Shinwari. He praised the unwavering commitment of the Businessman Forum, noting that their respectful and genuine dedication towards the tribal community has been a cornerstone of their success.
Shinwari further underscored the importance of boosting bilateral trade at the Torkham border, which serves as a critical gateway for commerce between Pakistan and Afghanistan. He called on the government to take immediate steps to improve trade conditions, stressing that facilitating cross-border trade would not only benefit traders but also drive economic growth in the region.
The delegation’s visit comes at a crucial time, as economic challenges and regional instability continue to affect businesses in the tribal areas. For many traders in Landi Kotal and surrounding areas, the SCCI’s continued advocacy is seen as vital to overcoming these challenges and ensuring sustainable economic progress. As the region’s traders prepare for the SCCI’s upcoming elections, the visit also signals the Businessman Forum’s intention to strengthen ties with the tribal business community, ensuring that their voices are heard at every level of decision-making.
In his remarks, Aimal Shinwari, President of the Torkham Customs Clearing Agents Association, reiterated the importance of unity among traders. He expressed hope that the continued support of the Businessman Forum would help address the pressing challenges facing the local business community, particularly those related to cross-border trade and logistics.
