DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Security forces thwarted coordinated terrorist attacks at 12 different locations across Balochistan late on Friday night, killing at least 37 militants during heavy fighting, while 10 security personnel were martyred in the line of duty.

According to security sources, militants linked to the group Fitna al-Hindustan attempted simultaneous, carefully planned assaults on key installations, security checkpoints and civilian areas, with the apparent aim of spreading fear and chaos across the province. The attacks were foiled due to timely intelligence, heightened preparedness and swift action by security forces and law enforcement agencies.

Officials said intense clashes followed by clearance operations resulted in the killing of 37 militants, while several others were reported to have been injured. Search-and-sweep operations remained under way as forces continued to pursue suspects who fled the scenes.

During the operations, 10 personnel from the security forces and police lost their lives while defending the country and protecting civilians. Security authorities paid tribute to the martyrs and said their sacrifices would not go in vain.

Sources said that over the past 48 hours, additional intelligence-based operations were carried out in various parts of Balochistan, leading to the killing of a further 41 militants. This brought the total number of militants killed in the last two days to 78.

Authorities confirmed that search, clearance and combing operations were continuing, with intensified action against facilitators and supporters of terrorist networks. Security forces reiterated their commitment to continue operations without interruption until all anti-state elements were eliminated.

Members of the public praised the swift response of the security forces and paid homage to the martyrs, stressing the importance of national unity in the fight against terrorism.
