TEHRAN: Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has approved the ceasefire agreement, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed.
He said Iran would halt its attacks if strikes against it were stopped, signalling a conditional commitment to the truce.
In his statement, Abbas Araghchi added that coordination with the Iranian military would allow safe transit through the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks.
Earlier, Iran had accepted Pakistan’s proposal for a two-week ceasefire, which was approved by the country’s new supreme leadership.
According to Iranian media reports, Donald Trump agreed to Iran’s conditions to end the conflict and announced a two-week ceasefire.
Iran also stated that formal talks would begin on Friday, April 10, with the possibility of extending negotiations if both sides agree.
