LAKKI MARWAT: At least seven police personnel, including Station House Officer Sadr Azam Khan, were martyred and one officer injured after a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) targeted a police vehicle in the Bettani subdivision on Friday.
The blast occurred near the Rasool Khel check post under Shaadi Khel Police Station while the vehicle was on routine patrol. The explosion destroyed the vehicle and caused multiple casualties. Those killed included Constables Shah Bahram, Shah Khalid, Haji Muhammad (ATS), Gul Zada (ATS), Sakhi Zada (ATS), and Insafuddin.
Police and rescue teams shifted the bodies and the injured officer to a nearby hospital, while security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. Investigations into the attack are ongoing.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister condemned the incident and sought a detailed report from the Inspector General of Police. His spokesperson, Suhail Afridi, expressed solidarity with the families of the martyrs and confirmed that the injured officer would receive best medical care. He added that such terrorist attacks would not weaken the resolve of security forces or the public and prayed for strength and patience for the families.
