KARACHI: Development work is continuing in Korangi Town, with drain cleaning and the installation of a new sewerage line underway in Union Council No 1, Qayyumabad. The town’s Vice Chairman, Zareen Awan, carried out a detailed inspection of the projects. Town administration officers, UC representatives, and staff were also present and briefed him on the progress.
During the visit, Vice Chairman Awan directed officials to ensure quality, transparency, and speed at every stage. He said these measures were crucial to provide a permanent solution to the long-standing sewerage and drainage problems in the area. He warned that substandard work or unnecessary delays would not be tolerated.
Awan highlighted that residents had suffered for years from sewerage overflow, foul smells, and unsanitary conditions, which had affected daily life and public health. He added that completing these development works would improve the drainage system and lead to a notable improvement in overall cleanliness.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the Pakistan Peoples Party was the only party that truly prioritized public service. Local government representatives were personally monitoring public issues and taking practical steps to resolve them quickly.
He noted that multiple development projects were being implemented across Korangi Town, including road rehabilitation, sewerage improvements, drain cleaning, and the provision of other basic civic facilities. The goal, he said, was to provide residents with a clean, healthy, and improved living environment.
The vice chairman reiterated that the PPP’s local government leadership was committed to fulfilling promises made to the public. He said the scope of development work would be expanded further across all areas of Korangi Town. He also appealed to residents to cooperate with the administration during project execution and to continue highlighting their problems so they could be addressed promptly.
