KARACHI: The Shawwal moon remained unseen in several countries, including Iran, Malaysia, Australia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, and Brunei, on Saturday, confirming that Eidul Fitr will be celebrated on Monday, March 31. Iran and Oman have officially announced that Eidul Fitr will be observed on Monday, following the sunset that marked the 28th day of Ramadan.
The crescent moon is expected to become visible to the naked eye on Sunday, signifying the end of the fasting month. In Malaysia, religious authorities made the announcement after dedicated efforts to sight the moon at designated locations. With no crescent visible, Ramadan will complete its 30 days, setting the stage for Eid celebrations on March 31.
A similar confirmation came from Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs, which declared that the Shawwal moon had not been sighted, meaning the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation will observe Eid on Monday. Bangladesh also declared March 31 as the first day of Eidul Fitr. Media reports confirmed the absence of the Shawwal moon in Bangladesh, India, and Brunei, all of which will celebrate Eid on the same day.
