RAWALPINDI: Former federal minister Sheikh Rashid has voiced his concerns over the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), likening the process to selling a family heirloom.
Speaking to media during a court appearance in Rawalpindi, Rashid criticized the government’s approach, saying, “The government has become complacent and should focus on selling its own properties instead of PIA.” His comments reflect a broader sentiment among many Pakistanis who view the airline’s privatization as a mismanagement of national assets.
Rashid pointed out that there are excessive legal cases against him, claiming, “14 cases are like a storm, and a lot of injustice is being inflicted.” He articulated his frustration with the current political climate, asserting that the public is losing faith in the government’s ability to provide transparent and effective governance.
Additionally, Rashid remarked on the significant impact of U.S. elections on global affairs, stating, “The world watches closely as the U.S. elections unfold, affecting various geopolitical dynamics.”
