DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Senior leader of the Shia Ulema Council Pakistan, Allama Muhammad Ramzan Tauqeer, condemned Pakistan and other Muslim countries for what he described as participation in an “imperialist and colonial agenda” under the so-called Gaza Peace Board.
Addressing a large Friday congregation in Dera Ismail Khan, Allama Tauqeer criticised the initiative and said countries aligning themselves with the board should not expect peace from what he termed the “Great Satan”. He warned that such alignment could expose them to situations similar to those faced by Ukraine, Syria and Venezuela.
He alleged that the United States and its allies were deliberately destabilising the Middle East and the Gulf region, pushing them towards conflict rather than peace. Rejecting the Gaza Peace Board charter under the leadership of former US president Donald Trump, he said the plan served Israeli interests and supported what he described as the open massacre of Palestinians.
Allama Tauqeer said Muslim countries, including Pakistan, must avoid becoming part of what he called a colonial and imperialist agenda and should protect themselves from external interference. He urged Muslim rulers to respect public sentiment and immediately withdraw from the Gaza Peace Board.
He said people across the Muslim world had raised serious concerns over the initiative and did not accept it. Instead of joining the board, he suggested participating countries should play a neutral mediatory role and contribute to peace efforts in Iran, Lebanon, Syria and Palestine.
Calling on Pakistan’s leadership to review its foreign policy, he urged it to show courage similar to that of countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Turkiye and Iran, which he said had avoided becoming part of the plan.
Referring to the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, he reiterated that Israel was regarded as a terrorist state and pointed out that the Pakistani passport clearly stated it was valid for all countries except Israel. He said using Pakistan’s armed forces against oppressed Muslims in Gaza would be against the country’s founding principles.
Expressing solidarity with the Palestinians, he said the people of Pakistan stood firmly with the oppressed and expected their government to support the Palestinian cause rather than align with policies that could harm them.
