DADU: The Sindh Fankaar Welfare Organization (SAFWA) distributed food rations to struggling and unemployed artists from Dadu and other districts of Sindh during Ramadan. Several prominent Sindhi actors and performers attended the event.
Leaders of SAFWA, including Lala Rafiq Zunor, Manzoor Akash Solangi, Syed Ahmed Nisar Shah, Fakir Ismail Chandio, Shakeel Abro and Mansoor Chandio, said the initiative was inspired by the late actor and founding member Syed Munawar Ali Shah, whose vision they are striving to fulfil.
They urged the Sindh Tourism and Culture Department to support artists, noting that many performers face financial hardship during months when cultural events are scarce. They criticised the provincial government for providing minimal assistance to the artistic community.
The event was also attended by members of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat, including Sajjad Yousuf Soomro and Khalil Arif, alongside journalists Kamran Korai, Deedar Sheikh, Asad Korai and Ahmed Ali Sheikh.
