KARACHI: The Sindh cabinet, led by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, convened on Tuesday to review ongoing development initiatives and set policy priorities for the province.

The meeting, attended by provincial ministers, advisors, special assistants, the chief secretary, and relevant department heads, considered 18 agenda items and approved a series of measures aimed at accelerating growth and improving public services across Sindh.

During the session, the Sindh chief minister for local government presented the Finance Committee’s report, detailing resource allocations for various provincial projects. Chief Minister Shah emphasized the need for efficient and accountable use of the development budget, noting that public funds must translate into tangible improvements for citizens.

Murad Ali Shah announced an 8.3 billion-rupee development package for Karachi, highlighting the federal Works Organization’s role in overseeing project execution. Plans discussed included major initiatives in transport, roads, drainage, water supply, and health infrastructure, which the chief minister described as potentially transformative for the city. He suggested that successful implementation could position Karachi among the world’s best-managed cities.

Beyond urban development, Shah stressed the importance of advancing Sindh’s industrial and agricultural sectors, reflecting the government’s broader economic priorities. Ministers were instructed to personally monitor project progress within their departments, with close supervision deemed essential to ensure timely completion and maximum benefit for residents.

Officials said the cabinet meeting reflected Sindh’s focus on combining strategic planning with rigorous oversight, aiming to deliver visible results in infrastructure, social services, and economic development.
