KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah met with the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Industry and Production, Haroon Akhtar, to discuss a strategic federal–provincial partnership aimed at revitalizing the province’s small and medium enterprise (SME) sector.
The meeting focused on identifying opportunities to strengthen industrial growth, improve access to finance, and enhance support mechanisms for entrepreneurs across Sindh. Officials said both leaders emphasized the importance of coordinated policy measures to promote innovation, competitiveness, and employment within the SME sector, which remains a critical driver of the provincial and national economy.
The discussions reportedly included initiatives to provide technical assistance, simplify regulatory frameworks, and facilitate better integration of SMEs into broader supply chains. The Chief Minister highlighted Sindh’s potential for industrial expansion and underscored the provincial government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for business development.
Haroon Akhtar acknowledged the province’s efforts and stressed the federal government’s readiness to collaborate on targeted programs that could accelerate growth and support sustainable enterprise development. Sources familiar with the meeting said both sides agreed to continue dialogue on specific projects and mechanisms to ensure that SMEs could access finance, technology, and markets more effectively, reinforcing their role as a backbone of economic activity in Sindh.
The partnership is expected to pave the way for a more structured approach to SME development, combining provincial insight with federal resources and policy support. The engagement reflects a growing recognition of the need for coordinated federal and provincial efforts to unlock the potential of SMEs, which are vital for job creation, economic diversification, and long-term industrial resilience in the province.
