KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah held a high-level strategic consultation with Mr Osman Dewani, Regional Vice President for South Asia at the World Bank, to review ongoing and upcoming development projects in the province. The meeting focused on accelerating the implementation of major initiatives aimed at improving essential services and social welfare across Sindh.
Key projects discussed included the Karachi Water & Sewerage Services Improvement Project, the expansion of the K-IV water supply scheme, the STARS WASH rural water and sanitation program, and social protection schemes for mothers and children. The Chief Minister stressed the need for structural reforms that deliver measurable benefits, highlighting the importance of improved access to clean water, enhanced nutrition, and strengthened social safety nets for vulnerable populations.
Dewani reaffirmed the World Bank’s long-term commitment to Sindh, noting that the partnership is intended to translate multi-billion-dollar investments into tangible results for citizens. Both sides examined project timelines, identified implementation challenges, and discussed actionable solutions to ensure efficient delivery of services across urban and rural areas.
Officials said the talks reflected a shared vision of accountability and results-oriented development, with an emphasis on improving the quality of life for communities most in need. The meeting also underscored the importance of collaboration between provincial authorities and international development partners to address infrastructure gaps, enhance service delivery, and support inclusive growth across Sindh.
