Exemptions will only be granted to individuals who possess a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for legitimate medical reasons, such as sensitivity to sunlight

KARACHI: The Sindh government has initiated a comprehensive crackdown on vehicles violating regulations related to number plates, tinted windows, and the use of unauthorized emergency equipment. Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon announced these enforcement measures during a press conference in Karachi, stating that the crackdown aims to enhance road safety and uphold the rule of law, regardless of individuals’ influence or status.

The new directives empower police and enforcement agencies to immediately remove unauthorized tinted glass from private vehicles. Exemptions will only be granted to individuals who possess a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for legitimate medical reasons, such as sensitivity to sunlight. This initiative is part of a broader effort to address visibility-related safety concerns on the roads. Under the new rules, vehicles displaying unauthorized police lights or emergency beacons will also be targeted. This applies not only to privately owned cars but also to government vehicles equipped with such lights without proper permissions.

Vehicles with altered or forged number plates face confiscation, while unregistered cars or those bearing plates issued to other parties will be subject to immediate seizure. In addition, the government has taken a firm stance against the open carry of firearms or shields, stating that individuals, even those with licenses, will not be permitted to display weapons publicly. The message from the Sindh government is clear: these measures are essential for enforcing law and order, and violators will face legal repercussions without exception.
