KARACHI: Sindh’s Minister for Local Government, Saeed Ghani, underscored the significance of showcasing Sindh’s developmental projects to journalists from across Pakistan during a dinner reception held for a 17-member delegation from the Lahore Press Club. The delegation, led by Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari, visited Sindh to observe the region’s ongoing and completed projects.
The reception took place at a local hotel, attended by Additional Chief Secretary of Local Government Sindh, Syed Khalid Haider Shah, Secretary Information Sindh, Nadeem ur Rehman Memon, Director General Information Sindh, Muhammad Saleem Khan, and other officials. Minister Ghani expressed his gratitude for the delegation’s visit and reiterated the Sindh government’s intention to invite journalists nationwide to witness the province’s development efforts firsthand. Ghani highlighted several major projects currently underway in Sindh, particularly in Karachi.
These include the Malir Expressway, the K-IV water project, and a new canal designed to enhance water supply from Hub to Karachi. He also mentioned completed public interest projects in cities such as Hyderabad, Sukkur, Nawabshah, and Larkana, with ongoing initiatives across the province. Addressing the electricity crisis, Ghani clarified that the problem is not a lack of production but rather widespread electricity theft. He criticized the current approach of federal subsidies, proposing instead a comprehensive solution to electricity pricing through inter-provincial consultations.
Ghani emphasized the need for alternative energy projects to address the crisis effectively. Arshad Ansari, President of the Lahore Press Club, shared his observations from their visit to Tharparkar and Nagarparkar. He expressed surprise at the positive developments in Tharparkar, which contradicted earlier negative reports. Ansari commended the progress made and noted that the briefings provided by the Chief Minister of Sindh indicated a promising future for the province. He also praised Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon for his efforts in the Department of Information and the Transport Department’s introduction of Red and Pink buses, viewing these as significant contributions to Sindh’s development.
