Professor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, Vice-Chancellor of Karachi University, spoke on the role of educators in fostering a constructive environment that promotes peace, equality, and justice. The seminar underscored the crucial role that higher education institutions (HEIs) can play in addressing national challenges and contributing to the country’s stability and progress. In his keynote address, Mufti Abdul Rahim of Jamia Al-Rashid emphasized the importance of Pakistan’s religious foundations in combating extremist ideologies. Mufti Rahim stressed that educational institutions should prioritize character-building alongside academic instruction. He further elaborated on the theological underpinnings of the “Paigham-e-Pakistan” initiative, noting its significance in countering extremism and fostering a peaceful society.
Professor Dr. Tariq Rafi, Chairman of Sindh HEC, addressed the current challenging phase Pakistan is undergoing. He criticized the lack of effective training and brainstorming in universities, which he believes has contributed to a misalignment in the mindset of the youth. Dr. Rafi called for universities to focus on comprehensive student training and inspiration beyond mere academic achievement. Mufti Ahmad Afnan, Director of Kulliya-Tush-Sharia at Ghazali University, discussed Pakistan’s Islamic state status and the constitutional oaths taken by its government and forces. He condemned suicide attacks as acts of rebellion forbidden by Sharia, emphasizing the need for adherence to Islamic principles.
