KARACHI: Health Minister of Sindh, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, accompanied by Secretary of Health, Rehan Iqbal Baloch, and EOC Sindh Coordinator, Irshad Ali Sodhar, paid a visit to Huma Ashraf, a polio worker hailed as a hero, who tragically lost her legs in a train accident while on duty at JPMC Hospital Karachi.
During the visit, Dr. Azra announced a grant of Rs10 million from the Government of Sindh to support Huma during this challenging time. She commended Huma’s dedication and bravery in the face of adversity, offering heartfelt condolences to her mother. Dr. Azra emphasized that the Polio Program stands in solidarity with Huma as she navigates her journey ahead.
Furthermore, Dr. Azra assured seamless continuation of Huma’s treatment at the hospital and affirmed that she would retain her job in the polio program. Members of the EOC Core Team, including Dr. Ahmed Ali Sheikh, Dr. Asif Zardari, and Dr. Shumail Rasool, among others, were also present at the event, showing support and solidarity with Huma Ashraf.
