KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Local Government, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, announced that tenders for development work in the Press Club residential projects are being issued and all projects will be completed under the direct supervision of the Karachi Press Club administration.
Speaking during his visit to the Press Club on Wednesday, Minister Nasir Hussain Shah confirmed that the 80:20 formula has been approved for the Karachi Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA), and the allotment of plots for new Press Club members will take place later this month.
The minister said that the Sindh government, under directives from Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and with personal interest from Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, is actively working to resolve issues faced by journalists. He was welcomed by Press Club President Fazil Jameeli, Secretary Sohail Afzal Khan, Joint Secretary Muhammad Munsif, and other members of the Governing Body.

During the meeting, discussions focused on journalists’ welfare, residential schemes, and developmental needs of the Press Club. Minister Shah stated that major and internal roads will be upgraded, sewerage systems improved, and dangerous buildings will be addressed with suitable alternatives for residents. He emphasized that completed roads will be durable, citing corrective measures taken for damaged sections on Shahrah-e-Faisal.
The Minister also highlighted government efforts to improve solid waste management, water supply, and building control systems, stating that task forces have been created to identify and resolve issues efficiently. He noted that the new housing scheme would benefit both current and incoming members, enabling them to plan a secure future. Minister Shah said all project files have been finalized and sent to relevant departments, with approvals in the final stages.
