KARACHI: Inspector General of Police Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, chaired a high-level meeting on February 4 to review police deployment, patrolling, and monitoring on the province’s major entry and exit points.
The session at Central Police Office was attended by senior officials, including Chief CPL Zubair Habib, Additional IGs Karachi, DIGs from headquarters, Sindh Police Highway Patrol, IT, T&T, Finance, Security and Emergency divisions, Karachi Administration, Traffic East, West, South, DG Safe City Authority, NRTC officials, and other officers.
During the briefing, DIG Sindh Police Highway Patrol highlighted the deployment and performance of police along highways and city access routes. Between January 1, 2026, and the present, 33 stolen and snatched vehicles were recovered and handed over to the AVL Department, while 44 suspects were arrested.
Officials noted a rising trend of vehicles using unclear, substandard, or altered number plates. Citizens regularly contact the Sindh Police Highway Patrol helpline 1124 for assistance during travel. Officers provide timely response, including hospital transfers for accident victims, fuel assistance, and roadside vehicle repairs.
IG Sindh directed action against vehicles with unclear or altered number plates and ordered increased police patrolling on highways. He also instructed that all recovered vehicle data be entered into the Sindh Police Highway Patrol’s central database to enhance monitoring and enforcement.
