KARACHI: Sindh’s inspector general of police, Ghulam Nabi Memon, has inaugurated the traffic helpline 1915 and the SSP Traffic South complex, the Sindh police said.
The traffic helpline 1915 has been established at the Central Police Office in Karachi, while the SSP Traffic South office has been set up at Artillery Maidan. The inauguration ceremonies were attended by the additional IGP Karachi, deputy inspectors general for traffic and training, SSPs Traffic South and AVLC, the PD-IT wing, and other senior officers.
Briefing the gathering, the DIG Traffic Karachi said the 1915 traffic helpline has been fully digitalised. He added that citizens can now obtain information about their e-challans from home by calling 1915.
Addressing the event, the IGP said offices equipped with modern facilities play an effective role in improving the performance of the traffic police. He noted that since the launch of the e-challan system, facilitation centres have been playing a meaningful role in providing services.
Describing 1915 as a modern facility, the IGP said the helpline currently offers citizens immediate guidance and complaint redressal, and will further strengthen communication between the public and the traffic police. He directed that the helpline be kept operational 24 hours a day.
Modern, well-equipped helplines strengthen public service delivery systems, the IGP said, adding that traffic discipline, guidance and citizen facilitation remain among the top priorities of the Sindh police.
