KARACHI: Following the successful launch of Pakistan’s first electric bus service in Karachi, the Sindh government is now intensifying efforts to introduce similar electric bus services in other major cities across the province.
A high-level delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) recently met with Sindh’s senior minister for transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon, in Karachi to discuss potential investments aimed at boosting the rapidly growing transport sector in the province.
The meeting, which also included the provincial transport secretary Asad Zamin and managing director of Sindh Mass Transit Authority Kamal Davo, highlighted ADB’s keen interest in investing to improve Sindh’s public transport system. He welcomed the support, describing it as a positive step towards revolutionary changes in public transportation.
Sharjeel Memon emphasized that sustainable transport solutions are a top priority for the government. He noted the electric bus service in Karachi has received overwhelming public approval and underlined the importance of clean energy and technology-driven solutions for the future of urban transport.
