KARACHI: The Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) premiered Pakistan’s first healthcare-focused web series, Precision Meets Purpose, at Neuplex Cinemas on Sunday, December 7.
The series highlights real patient journeys, following individuals who arrive at SIUT with severe and complex illnesses and undergo advanced robotic surgeries that transform their lives. Rooted in authenticity, the series aimed to spark a nationwide dialogue on healthcare accessibility, emphasizing that world-class treatment options must be available to everyone in need.
It reflected SIUT’s ongoing commitment to medical innovation and its pioneering role in introducing and adapting cutting-edge technologies. SIUT is recognized as a national center of excellence in robotic surgery, continually raising standards of patient care.
Dr Adib Rizvi, founder and director of SIUT, said in the documentary that science was dynamic and required constant vigilance. He added that SIUT had to remain alert to new frontiers in medical technology and that providing advanced facilities was a shared responsibility between the institute and the public.

“New technologies keep coming, and how far we go depends on the support we receive. With that support, we strive to keep up with every advancement,” he said. Dr Irfan Rizvi, chairman of the Department of Surgery at Virginia Hospital Center (USA) and executive producer of the series, stressed that technology should be adopted when it improves patient outcomes.
He highlighted the importance of integrating such advancements into public hospitals, where most of the population seeks care, to ensure equitable access for all. Dr Rehan Mohsin, head of Robotic Surgery at SIUT, said the institute had performed more than 4,000 robotic-assisted procedures across a range of specialties.
He explained that robotic surgery significantly reduced the risk of complications compared with traditional open procedures, offering patients safer and more efficient treatment options. Conceived by Saima Saleem and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jami, the series marked a milestone in medical storytelling in Pakistan.
The exclusive premiere at Neuplex Cinemas brought together healthcare professionals, supporters, and friends of SIUT, reinforcing the institute’s mission of providing free and dignified healthcare for all. Following the premiere, the series will be made available on leading OTT platforms and major entertainment channels, ensuring wider public access.
The event not only celebrated a significant contribution to medical awareness in Pakistan but also highlighted the rapid advancements in surgical technologies shaping the future of healthcare.
