KARACHI: Arsalan Bajari, the son of Saleem Bajari, who serves as the private secretary to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, has reportedly been booked for allegedly threatening police personnel during a routine snap check in Hyderabad. This incident, which has drawn significant media attention, was captured in a video that various news outlets have disseminated. The footage purportedly shows Bajari in a heated confrontation with police officers who were conducting a standard vehicle inspection.
According to reports, police signaled Bajari to stop his vehicle as part of their routine checks. However, rather than complying with the request, he allegedly became confrontational, asserting his perceived status as the son of a government official. The situation escalated when an Assistant Sub-Inspector urged Bajari to maintain respect towards the officers. When asked to provide identification, Bajari reportedly refused, dismissively stating, “You don’t need to know my name.”
He further emphasized his supposed influence by claiming, “People like you cannot stop us. I ride around with four Assistant Sub-Inspectors in my car,” which indicates a blatant disregard for law enforcement authority. Following this incident, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Hyderabad, Dr. Farrukh Lanjar, confirmed to local media that a formal case has been registered against Bajari at the Qasimabad police station. The booking of a figure associated with the provincial government has sparked discussions about privilege and accountability in law enforcement, particularly regarding the treatment of citizens who hold positions of power or influence. The incident highlights ongoing tensions between law enforcement and individuals who attempt to leverage their status for personal gain, raising questions about the enforcement of the law in such contexts
