Field Marshal Munir warned that the evolving face of war, driven by rapid technological leaps, is fundamentally rewriting global military strategy

    By Asghar Ali Mubarak

KHAIRPUR TAMEWALI: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, reaffirmed the armed forces’ unwavering commitment to defending the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during a visit to Khairpur Tamewali, where he witnessed a high-intensity military exercise, “Steadfast Resolve.”
The exercise, designed to simulate complex battlefield scenarios, underscored the army’s focus on operational readiness and strategic modernization in the face of evolving security challenges. Addressing the assembled troops, Field Marshal Munir stressed the importance of maintaining constant preparedness to respond effectively to both current and future threats.
“The character of war has transformed significantly in recent years,” he said, highlighting that rapid technological advancements are reshaping military strategy. He added that mental agility and technological adaptability at every tier of command had become as crucial as physical capability, with innovation and indigenization serving as core principles in the armed forces’ ongoing transformation.
Field Marshal Munir elaborated that the future battlefield would increasingly rely on technological maneuvers rather than traditional physical operations, fundamentally altering the conduct of both offensive and defensive missions. “Pakistan Armed Forces are embracing and absorbing technology at a rapid pace,” he noted, underlining the institution’s commitment to staying ahead of emerging threats through continuous innovation.
The visit also included inaugurations of key educational and skill development initiatives. Field Marshal Munir formally opened the ROHI eSkills Learning Hub (STP), aimed at enhancing digital literacy and providing learning opportunities for students, particularly from Southern Punjab and other parts of the country. He also inaugurated the APS Abbasia Campus, reinforcing the army’s long-standing commitment to quality education and character development.
During his tour, he visited the EME Regional Workshop, where officials briefed him on the maintenance of modern military platforms, emphasizing advanced technologies, indigenization efforts, and combat support capabilities. He was received by the Commander of the Bahawalpur Corps.
Earlier, upon arrival at Bahawalpur Garrison, Field Marshal Munir laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada memorial and offered Fateha, paying homage to the martyrs whose sacrifices have shaped the nation’s defence legacy.
