DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Students of Government Degree College No 1 in Dera Ismail Khan staged a protest rally on Monday against a recent increase in college fees, calling the move unjustified and oppressive.
The protest began on the college campus and marched towards GPO Chowk, where students blocked the main road, bringing traffic to a standstill. Long queues of vehicles formed, causing significant disruption and inconvenience to commuters and residents.
Speaking during the protest, students said the sharp rise in fees had placed an unbearable financial burden on those from poor and middle-income families, threatening their ability to continue their education. They demanded the immediate withdrawal of the increase.
The protesters warned that if their demands were not met and the fee hike was not reversed, they would intensify and widen their protest in the coming days.
