SUKKUR: Commissioner Sukkur Fayaz Hussain Abbasi, alongside Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ghotki, District Health Officer (DHO), and the District Emergency Operations Center (DEOC) team, officially inaugurated the September 2024 Sub-National Immunization Days (SNIDs) today. This campaign marks a crucial step in the continued efforts to eradicate polio in the region.

The launch event, held on September 9th, was attended by local officials and health workers, who gathered to emphasize the significance of the immunization campaign. Commissioner Abbasi used the occasion to appeal directly to parents, urging them to actively participate by welcoming the polio vaccination teams into their homes. “We are at a critical juncture in our fight against polio,” stated Commissioner Abbasi. “It is imperative for parents to ensure their children under the age of five receive the polio vaccine.
By doing so, we can protect our future generations from this debilitating disease.” The September 2024 SNIDs aim to reach every child under five years old with the essential polio drops. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to maintain high vaccination coverage and move closer to the goal of a polio-free region. Local health teams, supported by the DEOC, will be conducting door-to-door visits as well as setting up fixed and transit vaccination points to maximize coverage.
The campaign represents a collaborative effort between government officials, healthcare providers, and the community, highlighting the shared responsibility in achieving a polio-free future. As the campaign progresses, officials encourage the community to remain vigilant and supportive of the vaccination efforts to ensure no child is left unprotected.
