SUKKUR: Sukkur IBA University hosted a certificate distribution ceremony on February 18 to mark the successful completion of IT training under the Peoples Information Technology Program (PITP) Phase-II. The event celebrated youth from Sukkur, Larkana, and Shaheed Benazirabad and highlighted the Government of Sindh’s efforts to equip young people with market-relevant digital skills.

Dr Shahzaib Malik, Member IT from the Science and Information Technology Department, Government of Sindh, attended as chief guest and handed certificates to 400 top-performing students selected from 11 PITP centers across the three regions. The ceremony underscored PITP’s role in providing inclusive access to quality IT education, particularly in underserved and rural areas.

The event opened with a welcome note from Syed Mir Muhammad Shah, Pro Vice Chancellor of Sukkur IBA University, who congratulated the graduates and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to community development and professional training for youth across interior Sindh.

Dr Altaf Samo outlined the objectives, scope, and achievements of PITP, noting that Batch 01 saw 3,605 students complete IT courses across 21 centres, while Batch 02 had 4,270 graduates. These figures, he said, reflect the growing demand for digital skills and the program’s effectiveness in meeting that need.

Addressing participants, Dr Shahzaib Malik stressed the importance of IT and digital competencies in a rapidly evolving global landscape. He said such programs enhance employability, foster entrepreneurship, and allow youth to compete in both national and international job markets. He also praised Sukkur IBA University for reaching rural communities, where access to advanced IT training has traditionally been limited.

The ceremony specifically recognized the top 400 students for their dedication and outstanding performance. It celebrated the accomplishments of both Batch 01 and Batch 02 and reinforced the Government of Sindh’s vision of building a digitally skilled and economically empowered generation.

The Peoples Information Technology Program continues to bridge the digital divide, creating new pathways for youth empowerment across the province.
