KARACHI: A suspect involved in the robbery of cash from a jeweller has been apprehended in a major operation by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU)/CIA, Karachi. The raid took place near the Liaquatabad Post Office under the supervision of SSP Imran Khan.
During the operation, armed suspects opened fire on police, resulting in a brief exchange of gunfire. One suspect was injured and taken into custody. Authorities recovered weapons and cash amounting to one lakh rupees from the apprehended individual, who has been identified as Imran Khan.
Preliminary investigation revealed the suspect’s involvement in a previous robbery in Liaquatabad No. 5, where he and accomplices stole 15 million rupees from a jeweler on 11 September 2025. Teams have been formed to apprehend other suspects still at large.
Police have obtained the suspect’s criminal record, which includes charges of robbery, looting, and firing at police. A formal case has been registered against him at the SIU, and further interrogation is ongoing, according to SSP Dr. Muhammad Imran Khan.
