ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has sharply criticized the recent rally organized by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on the outskirts of Islamabad, branding it as a significant failure and asserting that the public has unequivocally rejected the event. He alleged that PTI had used fake videos and fabricated tweets to create a false impression of large-scale participation and enthusiasm.
In his statement, Tarar expressed skepticism about PTI’s claims of a large turnout, pointing out that traffic patterns in Islamabad and Punjab remained unaffected by the rally. He questioned the validity of PTI’s assertion that millions of people were mobilized for the event, which was intended to demonstrate widespread support for the party’s agenda. According to Tarar, the actual turnout was far below expectations, undermining PTI’s narrative of mass mobilization. Tarar accused PTI of resorting to misleading tactics to inflate the event’s success.
By leveraging social media to disseminate misleading information, PTI was accused of attempting to obscure the rally’s lack of impact and the true extent of public support. The Information Minister also took aim at PTI’s leadership in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, accusing them of being ineffective and failing to deliver on their promises. He noted that despite the party’s efforts to rally support, the outcome had been underwhelming and failed to live up to the dramatic expectations set by the party.
Tarar concluded his critique by reflecting on the overall decline in enthusiasm among PTI supporters. He used the phrase “Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un” (To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return) to underscore his view that the fervor for change espoused by PTI has diminished significantly. This phrase, often used in moments of grief or resignation, was employed to highlight what Tarar perceived as a lost spirit of change within the party and among its supporters. Overall, Tarar’s comments sought to undermine PTI’s claims of a successful rally and to highlight what he views as the party’s ongoing struggles with leadership and public support.
