TANDO ALLAHYAR: A severe cold wave in Tando Allahyar is taking a heavy toll on both humans and livestock. Sheep, goats, cows, buffaloes, and other animals are suffering from diseases triggered by the extreme cold. High fever, cough, and pneumonia are among the most common ailments, putting the lives of livestock at risk.
Residents and livestock owners have expressed frustration at what they describe as the Livestock Department’s inaction. They report that animals are dying due to the lack of timely vaccination and treatment. Many allege that officials are staging photo sessions at select locations to create a false impression of activity for the Sindh government, while the real situation on the ground remains critical.
The financial impact is severe. Buffaloes and cows are producing less milk because of illness, causing losses worth millions of rupees. Livestock owners have written to the Sindh Livestock Minister and the District Livestock Department, urging immediate intervention.
They have demanded that vaccination and treatment be carried out on an emergency basis to protect animals from deadly diseases worsened by the extreme weather. They also warned that swift action is necessary to prevent further financial losses for local farmers.
