KARACHI: Sindh governor Kamran Tessori has said that India understands the strength of a united Pakistan, arguing that if the country’s 240 million people stand together, it can prevail not only in matters of security but also in the “battle of the economy”.
In a statement, Tessori strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Islamabad, saying no amount of condemnation was enough. He alleged that India was sponsoring terrorism inside Pakistan to avenge what he described as its international humiliation, adding that innocent civilians were being deliberately targeted.
The governor said Pakistan would not allow its morale to weaken and expressed solidarity with the families of those killed. “We stand shoulder to shoulder with the bereaved,” he said, adding that he would personally support them wherever needed.
Tessori said terrorism would not be allowed to succeed under any circumstances. He claimed that the world had already witnessed what he called India’s involvement in terrorist activities in countries such as Canada and Bangladesh, and insisted that Pakistan possessed evidence of Indian-backed militants operating from Afghanistan and attacking unarmed civilians.
Referring to what he described as India’s failure in the conflict of 10 May, Tessori said New Delhi had suffered only embarrassment and was now attempting to retaliate through acts of terrorism. He pledged that unity and national solidarity would defeat such designs.
Commenting on the Tarlai incident in Islamabad, the governor said the targeting of innocent people, including children, was deeply painful. He said only faith could offer patience in such moments, describing the struggle as one between justice and oppression.
Tessori said terrorists had no religion, adding that violence itself was their only creed. He directly accused Indian prime minister Narendra Modi and what he called his extremist allies of being behind the violence, alleging that India’s partners in Afghanistan were attacking Pakistani civilians.
He concluded by saying that India had failed to confront Pakistan’s armed forces and was now resorting to conspiracies to avenge a lost conflict, adding that such attacks would not break Pakistan’s resolve.
