KARACHI: Governor Sindh, Kamran Khan Tessori, met with Denmark’s Ambassador, Maja Mortensen, at the Governor House in Karachi on 11 December to discuss ways to enhance trade, investment, education, and climate action between the two countries.
Governor Tessori highlighted the urgent need for coordinated global efforts to tackle climate change and emphasized the role of Danish scholarships and educational programs in promoting academic collaboration between Pakistan and Denmark. He also welcomed the increasing investment by Danish companies in Pakistan, noting that such initiatives would contribute to economic stability, growth, and employment generation.
The meeting reflected ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties and explore opportunities for mutually beneficial collaboration. The discussion focused on multiple areas of bilateral cooperation, including logistics, maritime sectors, manufacturing, and energy.
Ambassador Mortensen commended the Governor’s public welfare initiatives, describing them as impactful and significant for social development. During her visit, she participated in the ceremonial ringing of the “bell of hope” at the Governor House, which she called a unique and inspiring tradition.
The ambassador also planted a commemorative tree and recorded her impressions in the guest book, underscoring the symbolic importance of her visit. In addition to the formal discussions, the Danish Ambassador toured the historic rooms of Quaid-e-Azam, showing keen interest in the preserved artefacts used by Pakistan’s founding father.
The visit highlighted a shared commitment to deepening ties across economic, educational, and environmental sectors, while promoting people-to-people connections and cultural understanding. Observers noted that such high-level engagements are likely to open new avenues for trade, investment, and collaborative initiatives between Pakistan and Denmark.
