WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump’s reckless and divisive policies have pushed the United States—and the world—into uncharted territory, where the spectre of war and global anarchy looms ever closer. Across the country, thousands of Americans have raised their voices in protest, as a resounding chorus of opposition against Trump’s destructive agenda reverberates through the streets of Washington, New York, Los Angeles, and beyond.
The protests—coordinated under the banner of “Hands Off”—have become a powerful symbol of resistance against an administration that has careened from crisis to crisis, sowing discord and undermining the very fabric of democracy. In Washington alone, over 20,000 citizens poured into the streets, rallying against the toxic policies that have led to widespread disenchantment. These protests were not isolated incidents. More than 1,000 cities across the United States witnessed a united stand against the Trump administration’s authoritarian leanings.
But perhaps the most damning of all is the mass reduction of federal jobs, a measure spearheaded by Elon Musk’s government performance department, which has left thousands unemployed and vulnerable in an already fragile economy. Yet, the ramifications of Trump’s policies extend far beyond America’s borders. Protests also erupted in countries like Canada, Mexico, and several European nations, where citizens expressed solidarity with the growing movement in the United States. This widespread international backlash is a stark reminder of how Trump’s aggression is not only a threat to American democracy, but also to global peace and stability.
His reckless actions—whether through military escalation, economic isolationism, or his assault on international alliances—have placed the world in a precarious position. In his pursuit of power, Trump has thrown diplomatic restraint to the wind, risking the very essence of the world order that has kept nations from falling into chaos for decades. But the people are not silent. From the streets of Washington to the squares of London, there is a growing realization that the erosion of public welfare and the rise of powerful elites—embodied by figures like Musk—are undermining the foundations of democratic governance.
