KARACHI: The Karachi Traffic Police have announced a comprehensive traffic plan for the Chehlum procession commemorating the martyrs of Karbala. The main procession will commence from Nishtar Park and conclude at Husainian Iranian Imambargah, following specific routes.

MA Jinnah Road will be closed from Guru Mandir to Tower on Monday to accommodate the procession. Passengers traveling from Nazimabad are advised to use Lasbela Chowk to Nishtar Road to reach their destinations. Travelers from Liaquatabad should take Teen Hatti to Lasbela Chowk and proceed towards Central Jail. Those coming from Hasan Square to Peoples Chowrangi can use Kashmir Road, Sharah-e-Quaideen, and Jail Flyover to reach Nishtar Road via Teen Hatti.

Individuals heading to Numaish from Sharea Faisal or Sharah-e-Quaideen are also recommended to use Kashmir Road. For access to Central Jail Gate, Jamshed Road, Guru Mandir, or MA Jinnah Road, passengers can take Bahadur Yar Jang Road and Soldier Bazaar from Guru Mandir. Those traveling from Garden Zoo to MA Jinnah Road should use the route from Uncle Surya to Gul Plaza or Holy Family Hospital.

All heavy traffic will be diverted from Liaquatabad No. 10 towards Nazimabad Chowrangi No. 2, proceeding via Habib Bank Flyover, State Avenue Road, and Sher Shah to Mauripur. Heavy vehicles coming from Sharea Faisal or Rashid Minhas Road can use Stadium Road, Habib Bank Bridge, and Sher Shah to reach Mauripur.

No light or heavy vehicles will be permitted beyond the Guru Mandir intersection onto the procession route. These vehicles will be redirected towards Bahadur Yar Jang Road and Soldier Bazaar. MA Jinnah Road will be closed to all types of vehicles except those with special stickers indicating participation in the procession. Vehicles with these stickers will be allowed entry via Sharah-e-Quaideen and Society Light Signal. Parking will be prohibited along the procession route.
