TANDO ALLAHYAR, Mar 6: Two men were arrested during a police raid on an illegal oil theft operation in the limits of Omar Sanad police station, while the station house officer was suspended following the incident.
Authorities said the raid was conducted after a tip-off about oil being siphoned from a pipeline connected to an oil field in Tando Allahyar. Police seized a tanker carrying about 7,000 litres of oil and took the suspects into custody for further legal proceedings.
Senior Superintendent of Police Syed Saleem Shah immediately suspended the SHO of Omar Sanad and appointed Shabbir Hussain Leghari as his replacement. A case related to theft of the national treasury has been registered, and a joint investigation team (JIT) has been formed to ensure a transparent inquiry. SSP Shah warned that any police officials found involved in the theft would face strict departmental action.
