KARACHI: Two Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers were injured in a robbery attempt near Karachi’s Nazimabad on Thursday after they resisted street criminals, according to Express News. The workers, identified as Anis and Ameer Hamza from PTI’s Central District, were shot during the incident and were immediately transferred to Ziauddin Hospital for treatment. Following the incident, PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh, along with Karachi President Raja Azhar and General Secretary Arsalan Khalid, arrived at the hospital with hundreds of party workers.
In response to the shooting, Haleem Adil Sheikh criticized the Sindh government for neglecting the safety of Karachi’s youth. “Our two workers have been injured during this robbery. The government is responsible for allowing the targeted killings of Karachi’s youth,” he stated. Sheikh further alleged that for months, young people in Karachi have been targeted and killed, with the police failing to resist the criminals. “Have the Chief Minister and the Inspector General of Sindh granted these criminals a ‘license to kill’?” Sheikh questioned.
Sheikh also highlighted the lack of adequate medical facilities at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, which led to the injured workers being transferred to a private hospital for better treatment.
On July 26, gunfire erupted in the affluent commercial area of Khayaban-e-Nishat in Defence Phase V, Karachi, resulting in the deaths of five people. The police reported that the clash occurred between two factions of the Bugti tribe, who had arrived in the area in pickup trucks. The injured individuals were believed to be Mir Ali Haider Bugti and Qaim Ali. It was further revealed that one of the deceased was the grandson of Nawabzada Akbar Bugti, the late chief of the Bugti tribe.
