BHAKKAR: Two personnel of the Punjab Police were martyred and one constable injured in a suicide attack at the Dajal Inter-Provincial Check Post in Bhakkar, an incident officials said was carried out by militants associated with the banned outfits Fitna Al-Khawarij and Fitna Al-Hindustan. The attack targeted officers deployed at the strategic transit point to maintain internal security, underlining the persistent threats faced by law enforcement in sensitive areas.
Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr Usman Anwar paid tribute to the slain officers, saying they had rendered eternal sacrifices in the line of duty while protecting the nation. He said the injured constable, identified as Arshad, would receive the best available medical treatment and reaffirmed that the welfare of the martyrs’ families remained a top priority for the department.
He added that the police force stood like a leaden wall against extremist violence and would continue to confront threats posed by both domestic and foreign-backed militant networks. Authorities said an investigation was under way and security at the Dajal check post had been further strengthened to prevent any repeat of the attack.
The incident came amid a wider campaign against terrorist groups and highlighted the risks faced by police personnel deployed at key checkpoints, serving as a stark reminder for local residents of the dangers encountered daily by those responsible for safeguarding citizens and critical infrastructure.
