LONDON: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with officials from the British Foreign Office in London to discuss the potential extradition of several Pakistani nationals, sources close to the matter reported. The meeting, attended by Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr Muhammad Faisal, also touched upon broader aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the discussions, Naqvi reportedly raised concerns about certain Pakistanis alleged to be involved in activities that could incite unrest or destabilize communities within Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two nations in addressing issues related to law enforcement and accountability, underlining Pakistan’s commitment to pursuing justice for cases involving its citizens abroad.
Sources said that the interior minister also briefed British officials on a series of domestic reforms aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s immigration system. He highlighted efforts to enhance regulatory frameworks and administrative procedures, portraying them as part of a broader strategy to modernize governance, ensure compliance with international standards, and facilitate lawful movement of individuals while preventing misuse of the system.
Observers noted that the meeting reflects the ongoing dialogue between Pakistan and the United Kingdom on security, migration, and judicial cooperation. By combining discussions on extradition with updates on internal reforms, Pakistani officials sought to demonstrate both readiness for collaboration and commitment to improving governance at home, signaling a pragmatic approach to addressing sensitive cross-border legal and diplomatic issues.
