LONDON: A British nuclear submarine has taken position in the Arabian Sea, equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles, according to a British newspaper, as tensions continue to escalate across the region.
Meanwhile, the Iranian military warned that any attack on its energy infrastructure would be met with a strong response, adding that all energy facilities linked to US interests in the region could become targets.
Iran also denied launching ballistic missiles at the Diego Garcia military base in the Indian Ocean, with a senior official stating that the base is located around 4,000 kilometres from Iranian territory and Tehran was not responsible for any such attack.
Separately, Saudi Arabia’s defence ministry said three ballistic missiles targeted Riyadh, with one intercepted while the other two fell in uninhabited areas. The developments highlight growing military activity and heightened security concerns in the Middle East and surrounding waters.
