ISLAMABAD: Islamabad United, the three-time Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions, have bolstered their squad for the ongoing PSL 2025 season with the inclusion of explosive batter Mohammad Faiq. The announcement was made on April 29, as the defending champions look to reinforce their already formidable batting lineup.
The addition of Faiq comes after two key United batters, Matt Short and Rassie van der Dussen, were ruled out of the ongoing HBL PSL due to injuries. Faiq, 23, has earned a reputation in domestic cricket for his aggressive and dynamic batting style. His breakthrough moment came on March 18, 2025, when he scored an unbeaten 116 off just 56 balls for Lahore Whites in the National T20 tournament in Faisalabad. The innings included 12 boundaries and 6 sixes, showcasing his explosive capabilities. This was his second T20 century, following a blistering 110 not out off 60 balls in the 2023-24 National T20 season.
Faiq’s recent performances have been widely praised, with fans and experts on social media applauding his ability to score at a rapid pace, making him a valuable asset to any team. As Islamabad United sits at the top of the PSL 2025 points table, unbeaten so far, the team will be hoping that Faiq’s fiery batting will contribute to their quest for a fourth PSL title.
United’s next challenge will come on May 1, when they face Multan Sultans in Rawalpindi. The addition of Faiq adds another layer of depth to an already strong lineup, and the team will be hoping his form continues as they aim to extend their dominance in the tournament.
