DADU: A United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) delegation visited Dadu on Friday to assess conditions in the district’s underdeveloped areas, officials said.
The mission was led by senior UNDP member Ms Yang Kim. Deputy Commissioner Syed Murtaza Shah briefed the team on the district’s overall situation and reviewed arrangements for the visit.
The delegation toured several remote settlements, including Chakar Kot, Hairo Khan, Basti Ghulam Rasool, Veer Nath, and Shahdad Khan Brohmani, examining social and developmental challenges faced by local residents.
District police implemented strict security measures to safeguard the visitors. SSP Dadu Amir Saud Magsi said personnel from the Rapid Response Force, police mobiles, plainclothes officers, and the special branch were deployed, while a control room was activated for monitoring.
Deputy Commissioner Murtaza Shah said the mission aimed to assist residents of the district’s remote and disadvantaged areas, assess their challenges, and formulate development strategies. The delegation was scheduled to visit the Kirthar mountain range the following day.
