KARACHI: A tragic shooting incident occurred in the Sultanaabad area on Wednesday, where unknown gunmen broke into a residence and shot dead a father of two before fleeing the scene. The attack happened early in the morning, around 4:30 a.m., at house number D/430 in New Haji Camp, Makora Lane, within the jurisdiction of the Docks police precinct.

The victim, identified as 45-year-old Shamroz Khan, was found dead inside his home. According to SHO Nafees ur Rehman, Khan, originally from Kohat district in Kurrak, was a security guard by profession but had been staying at home due to illness. The assailants, who entered the house and shot Khan in the head in front of his wife, escaped before authorities arrived.

The police suspect that the motive behind the killing might be personal enmity. Evidence has been collected from the crime scene, and an investigation is underway to determine the identity of the perpetrators and the exact motive behind the murder. Khan’s body has been transferred to Civil Hospital for legal formalities.

In a separate incident on Sunday, a restaurant cashier was shot dead allegedly by a co-worker while he was asleep in a room on the 4th floor of their restaurant on 10th Commercial Street, DHA, Phase V. Upon receiving the report, police rushed to the scene and called the Crime Scene Unit to gather evidence. The victim, 42-year-old Sohail Danish, son of Haroon Rasheed, was shifted to JPMC for legal formalities.

Additionally, last week in Dheri Kot village near Kala Chitta Pahar, two female students were killed and five others, including a driver, were injured when unknown assailants opened fire on a school van. The shooting, attributed to personal enmity involving the van driver, occurred within the limits of Model Police precinct. The Punjab Chief Minister has taken strict notice of the incident and demanded a detailed report from police authorities.

On July 13, another violent incident occurred near Cattle Colony Mor in Shah Latif Town. Malik Sardar Abbas, 45, was killed, and a passerby woman, Sakina, 35, was injured in the attack. The preliminary investigation by SHO Malik Saleem suggests that Abbas was allegedly killed by his father-in-law, Basharat, along with an accomplice. Both victims were taken to JPMC for medical attention. These incidents underscore the urgent need for improved security measures and prompt action by law enforcement to address and prevent such violent crimes.
