KARACHI: The spokesperson for the Sindh government and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader, Sadia Javed, said that the growing environmental crises were largely the result of housing societies built on natural riverbeds, which had severely disrupted the ecological system.
Sadia Javed expressed these views while addressing a training program organized by the Women Media Center in Karachi, where she attended as the chief guest. She stated that the project to provide 2.1 million housing units was underway, with ownership being granted to women.
Sadia Javed added that under the Benazir Income Support Program, women were being equipped with various skills to ensure their economic empowerment. She further noted that it was due to the vision of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto that the country had witnessed the establishment of the first Women’s Bank and the first Women’s Police Station.

Speaking about artificial intelligence, she emphasized that women politicians needed to be extremely cautious in the age of AI, describing it as a highly powerful tool where a single wrong sentence could damage a person’s credibility within seconds. On issues related to women, the Sindh government spokesperson said that women should report any form of harassment or wrongdoing instead of remaining silent.
Sadia Javed stressed that families ought to support them rather than suppress their voices, adding that this outdated mindset must be eliminated from society. The Women Media Center had recently conducted a five-day workshop, beginning on November 26, titled “Media Manipulation and Political Influence in the Age of AI.”
Students from major universities across the city participated in the training, where journalism-related skills were imparted. At the conclusion of the program, Sadia Javed distributed certificates to the participants and commended the efforts of the Women Media Center.
