KARACHI: Consul General Scott Urbom recently completed a significant visit to Hyderabad in a diplomatic outreach aimed at deepening Pakistan-US relations, where he underscored the growing momentum in educational, economic, and people-to-people partnerships between the two nations.

The visit reflected a multifaceted agenda — from engaging alumni of U.S. public diplomacy programs to fostering trade dialogue and celebrating educational initiatives. A highlight of his trip was his stop in Jamshoro, where Urbom participated in a vibrant reunion of the Pakistan-US Alumni Network (PUAN).

Commending the proactive spirit of local alumni, he remarked, “Jamshoro alumni are turning vision into action,” pointing to impactful projects initiated through US government grants, particularly in tech innovation and community welfare.

Urbom also graced the closing ceremony of the English Access Scholarship Program at Government College University Hyderabad. There, he applauded the program’s mission of empowering 75 young students with English proficiency, critical thinking skills, and cross-cultural awareness.

“Through such investments in education, the United States advances long-term stability and prosperity,” he noted, reinforcing Washington’s commitment to supporting educational upliftment as a pillar of bilateral cooperation.

Further strengthening economic links, the Consul General met with members of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Discussions focused on regional agricultural potential and business expansion, exploring pathways for enhanced U.S. trade and investment in Sindh’s emerging markets.

In a nod to cultural diplomacy, Urbom also visited the Lincoln Corner Hyderabad, where he engaged with local students in a dialogue on sports diplomacy. Drawing parallels between baseball and cricket, he emphasized how shared sporting passions can build bridges between diverse communities.
