SUKKUR: On Wednesday, a significant milestone in the field of education and innovation was reached in Khairpur District, as US Consul General Scott Urbom, alongside a representative from the Dawood Foundation, inaugurated a state-of-the-art STEM laboratory at the Government Higher Secondary School in Hussainabad. The laboratory, a symbol of collaboration between the US Consulate General in Karachi and the Dawood Foundation, was awarded to the school in recognition of its triumph in a drama competition earlier this year.
The competition, which saw participation from 53 schools across Sindh and Balochistan, marked an important achievement for the school and its students. During the inauguration, Consul General Urbom, accompanied by officials from the Dawood Foundation, took a tour of the school and interacted with the school administration, underscoring the importance of the new laboratory in providing students with access to cutting-edge educational tools.
The event was attended by an array of dignitaries, including the District Administrative Officer for Secondary Education in Khairpur, local community leaders, faculty members, and Mashkoor Khaskheli, the Vice Chairman of Union Council Lyari. Their presence at the ceremony highlighted the broader community support for such initiatives that aim to improve educational infrastructure and foster a new generation of skilled learners in the region.
Following the school event, Consul General Urbom visited the Lincoln Corner at Sachal Library in Khairpur, where he participated in an insightful session with alumni from the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) program. The session brought together women entrepreneurs from Sukkur, Khairpur, and surrounding areas, providing a platform for them to share their personal journeys and discuss the challenges they face in business.
