ISLAMABAD: The United States delegation led by JD Vance returned to Washington after negotiations with Iran concluded without any final agreement, marking a setback in diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions between the two countries.
The talks had continued over an extended period, with both sides attempting to bridge differences on key issues in search of a workable settlement. However, despite what officials described as detailed and sustained discussions, no breakthrough was achieved.
Speaking earlier during a press briefing, JD Vance confirmed that the negotiations had ended without a deal and said the US delegation was heading back home. He stated that Iran had not accepted the conditions put forward by Washington, even after extensive engagement on core points of disagreement.
He added that the discussions had been conducted in good faith, with both sides participating in what he described as serious and structured dialogue. According to him, there had been some flexibility shown during the process, but it was not enough to overcome the main sticking points.
The talks formed part of broader diplomatic attempts to reduce long-standing tensions between Washington and Tehran. However, the latest round ended without any tangible progress, leaving the future of further negotiations uncertain.
