WASHINGTON: Michael Wolff, the American journalist known for his four books on Donald Trump, has once again delivered a striking assessment of the former president, describing him as both a fool and an extraordinarily intelligent individual. In a recent interview, Wolff emphasized that Trump should not be viewed through the traditional lens of a politician but rather as a masterful performer who understands the power of spectacle.

“I tell people not to see him as a politician—he’s an entertainer, an actor,” Wolff remarked, urging observers to reconsider how they interpret Trump’s actions and appeal. According to Wolff, while actors are often dismissed as lacking intellectual depth, they possess an acute awareness of their audience and how to command attention.

Trump’s years as the host of the reality TV show The Apprentice played a crucial role in shaping his public persona, Wolff explained. Spending 14 years in the limelight of prime-time television gave him a unique advantage that no other politician has had. This experience, Wolff argued, provided Trump with an instinctive ability to read a crowd, create compelling narratives, and keep the public engaged—skills that translated seamlessly into his political career.

Despite his often controversial statements and unpredictable behavior, Wolff suggested that Trump’s success cannot be dismissed as mere luck or bluster. Instead, he described him as a figure who thrives on disruption, using theatrics and media manipulation to maintain dominance over the political stage. Wolff’s characterization adds to the ongoing debate over Trump’s leadership style, with critics questioning whether his methods reflect genuine political strategy or simply an ability to exploit public sentiment.
