The PTI is preparing for a significant rally in Islamabad today, which coincides with President Zardari’s signing of the new Public Order and Peaceful Assembly Bill 2024 into law

ISLAMABAD: The use of machinery and vehicles from the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in Islamabad has sparked controversy regarding the use of public resources. More than 40 operational vehicles from Rescue 1122, including ambulances and fire trucks, were dispatched to Islamabad, with footage showing these vehicles arriving in Swabi.
In addition to ambulances and fire trucks, cranes, excavators, and disaster response vehicles have been mobilized for potential use at the rally, particularly to clear any blocked routes. Rescue officials confirmed that staff members and vehicles are accompanying convoys heading to the event, with authorities asserting that these resources are intended for emergency services. Rescue 1122 authorities emphasized that the deployment of these vehicles and personnel is aimed at handling any emergencies that might arise during the rally, ensuring safety, and providing necessary emergency services.
The deployment has raised questions about the appropriateness of using government resources for political events. Officials have defended the move, stating that the primary objective is to ensure public safety during the large gathering. The PTI is preparing for a significant rally in Islamabad today, which coincides with President Zardari’s signing of the new Public Order and Peaceful Assembly Bill 2024 into law. Despite the new legislation, PTI leaders are finalizing arrangements at the Sangjani Cattle Market site. In anticipation of the rally, authorities have blocked major routes in Rawalpindi and Islamabad with barriers and containers, including key roads such as Old Airport Road, GT Road, and Faizabad link, causing substantial disruptions.
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government had earlier announced the development of plans A, B, and C to ensure the success of the PTI rally on Sunday. PTI leaders have stated that the rally will proceed as planned, regardless of external requests for cancellation or postponement. Each PTI member in national and provincial assemblies has been tasked with bringing 1,000 to 2,000 supporters, with plans implemented under party leadership. The Chief Minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is reported to be personally overseeing the preparations for the event.
