KARACHI: Uzbekistan’s foreign policy, guided by its Constitution and various laws, emphasizes sovereign equality, non-use of force, and peaceful dispute resolution. The 2023 constitutional amendments reinforce these principles, promoting friendly relations with neighboring countries and active participation in global organizations. Uzbekistan has strengthened ties with both distant and neighboring nations, engaged in over 100 high-level visits, and participated in numerous international bodies.
Recent achievements include its election to the UN Human Rights Council and the restoration of relations with the European Union and major global financial institutions. The country has focused on regional cooperation, conducting over 150 high-level meetings in Central Asia and advancing trade and economic links. Uzbekistan’s international initiatives have led to UN resolutions and active involvement in organizations like the WHO and UNESCO. The Uzbekistan-2030 Strategy aims to boost exports, attract investment, and enhance relations with Asia-Pacific, South Asian, Middle Eastern, and African nations.
The Oliy Majlis has expanded its role in foreign policy through inter-parliamentary cooperation and the adoption of the Concept of Parliamentary Diplomacy, which enhances engagement with foreign legislatures and supports sustainable development goals. The national legislature is committed to promoting Uzbekistan’s interests globally and contributing to international peace and security.
